Stewardship
The HARP (Helping Appalachian Rural Peoples) Mission, a faith based NGO - Leading others in serving the Lord through our compassionate service in the mission field.
At the Affirmation and Prayer retreat held at Concordia Church in Independence on May 19, Pastor Matthew Garred, Associate Pastor at Our Redeemer Church, Solon, Ohio, offered a list of money saving ideas that congregations might consider to stretch financial resources especially during these difficult economic times.
A rich (and growing) array of stewardship resources offered by Stewardship Ministry of District and Congregational Services of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
This is an easy reference guide for conducting a successful and spiritual appeal that fits the needs of your congregation. Congregations have been successful in raising funds by following one of these five plans. Each plan is unique in its approach but they all share three core elements of a successful campaign which are: recruit, educate and invite!
If you are like most Christians, your local congregation is the place where your Christian faith is nurtured and strengthened. It is there that you were baptized, confirmed, married, and will have your funeral. The Holy Spirit works there through the preaching of God’s Word and the Lord’s Supper to keep you in the one true faith until you reach your heavenly home.
Would you sell your farmland if you could avoid paying the capital gains tax? Many people get tired of the ongoing management problems that this type of asset can have and the relatively low income that it provides.
This resource links to a .pdf document describing the specific mission targets for which FIF funds will be used. The missions are organized using the promise Jesus made to the disciples in Acts 1: "You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth."
If you have a desire to establish a legacy of giving for your children and grandchildren, plus support the ministries closest to your heart, then a Family Gift Fund through the LCMS Foundation could be a great financial tool for you.

12 Step Process to a Successful Building Project
The ODLCEF has developed a 12-step process that is a helpful guide to congregations, schools and other district organizations interested in a building or renovation project. Following the guide and making use of the resources available from the ODLCEF will make the difficult task of building go smoother.
The video of the President Cripe's recent mission trip to Haiti is now available here. President Cripe visited Haiti in February along with representative of the Oklahoma District, LCMS. The Haiti Mission is the focus of the 2008 Pentecost Offering.
This photo is a view of the Haiti mission taken from the video.
For years here in the Ohio District a fund has been available to assist youth in attending one of our District youth gatherings. This could be the Sr. High Gathering or either of the Jr. High Gatherings. It's always been called the Ohio District Gathering Scholarship Fund.
As of March 2008, the name has been changed to the David K. Reimann Gathering Scholarship Fund.
