Professional Worker Care in the Ohio District continues to be described by the acronym “CARE MORE”.

The basic emphases of this ministry to the district’s professional church workers are:

C  onfidential consultation, provided by the Director of Ministerial Health (DMH) and those regional contacts trained by him.

A  ppropriate affirmation, given by these same “Barnabas’s” who also dole out caring confrontation when affirmation is inappropriate.

R  esponsible referral to mental health professionals, most of whom have been interviewed and will work with the DMH and regional contacts to provide a strong web of healing.

E   ffective education and equipping in the form of workshops, small groups, Circuit presentations, and retreats, are available to enable workers to deal with those issues that trouble them.

R  Religion, both commissioned and ordained.

E  Extended…that is, including the families of these workers as well as the many committed Christian workers who are neither commissioned nor ordained, but who faithfully serve in Lutheran school classrooms and on staffs of Lutheran congregations throughout the District.
