Fan into Flame
This Case Study (revised May 23, 2009) by Rev. Kevin Wilson, Ohio District Mission and Ministry Facilitator offers an in depth review of opportunity the LCMS has to bring its witness of the Gospel of Christ to the people of West Virginia.
Whirlwind Reflections
It has been over a month since Synodical Vice President David Buegler and I completed our whirlwind tour around the district and put before 67 interested congregations what financial goals Fan into Flame presents and the opportunities our congregations may choose to follow. I thought I would share with you some reflections.
This is an easy reference guide for conducting a successful and spiritual appeal that fits the needs of your congregation. Congregations have been successful in raising funds by following one of these five plans. Each plan is unique in its approach but they all share three core elements of a successful campaign which are: recruit, educate and invite!
This resource links to a .pdf document describing the specific mission targets for which FIF funds will be used. The missions are organized using the promise Jesus made to the disciples in Acts 1: "You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth."
There are three options for congregations who desire to make commitments to Fan into Flame a part of their efforts to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the world
The LCMS has announced that a total of $44.5 million in gifts and commitments has been made to the Fan Into Flame campaign.
If St. Paul didn’t have a famine in Jerusalem to write the Corinthians about and instead had a special funding appeal to reach the “ends of the earth” with the “Good News” do you think Second Corinthians chapter 8 might have sounded something like this?
Fan into Flames Bulletin Inserts can help parishoners understand the tremendous opportunity for witness and service that confronts Lutheran Christians today.
Working in partnership with LCMS World Mission, the Fan into Flame campaign is designed to help the mission objectives of the Ohio District.
This resouce links to a .pdf file offering a detailed explanation of those objectives and how Fan into Flame will support them as a part of the LCMS's efforts to reach 100 million people by the year 2017.
The role of the Fan into Flame Circuit Coordinator is to lead his/her congregation to take part in Fan into Flame by making a formal commitment to participate, and then encourage three to four other congregations to do the same.
Fan into Flame is the campaign to gather financial support for the Ablaze! movement.
