The Servant Event is June 22 - 28. The work to be done is to assist residents of Southeastern Ohio in work on their homes and to assist Lutheran Social Services in their main office and distribution center in Caldwell. In the past as much as three semi truck loads of donations have been unloaded and sorted! Your time and energy spent during this week will be valuable!
Plan to arrive on Sunday evening, June 22 between 5 and 7 p.m. for registration. Activities will begin at 7 p.m.
Please fill out the forms and send them along with your payment of $115 per person to Ohio District Mission Support Center, 6451 Columbia Road, Olmsted Falls, Ohio 44138. Please put Servant Event on the check memo line.
Each participant needs to bring a tool box filled with various items such as: hammer, screw drivers, work gloves, eye protection, dust mask, paint scrapers, paint brush and band aides! Bring enough clothes for work and for after cleaning up in the evening, bedding, air mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, towels and toiletries and you Bible! Don't forget rain gear and shoes for work - flip flops won't be acceptable on the work sites.
Each group will need to bring whatever of the following items as possible: ladders, power tools, extension cords, etc. A large cooler to take lunches and beverages along to sites is also needed for each group.
Find the Servant Event by getting to Cambridge, Ohio - right where I-70 and I-77 intersect. Get on I-77 South, Take Exit 25. Turn left off the ramp. Then, take the first left you come to (at McDonald's) and go into town, this street becomes Main Street. Meet the group at 810 Main Street, the Lutheran Social Services office (left side of street). The housing will be at an area school where there will be showers and air conditioning!
Meals are included for the week beginning on MONDAY morning and continue through Saturday morning at the end of the Event. The participants will be divided into groups for work teams and for kitchen duty teams - we're making our own meals this year!
