"Friendship Trek" at St. Mark Chesterland

The children attending St. Mark Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School show off their tie-dye T- shirts. The VBS theme was “Friendship Trek” had more than double the number of children attending than the previous year. Each morning began with a Trailhead opening service & a video on “Being a Friend”. The kids broke into four groups & hiked their own Friendship Trek to five rotation sights where they unpacked the Bible story and explore the friendship Jesus offers.
A “Survivor Game” reinforced the Bible story, then it was on to a campfire to hear from one of the characters. The campers then to the Bible Challenge to learn a bible verse, & then hiked to the fellowship hall for the VBS tradi¬tion of crafts with the kids mak¬ing a project about the bible story.
Snack time included: Reach Out Pudding, Friendship Hearts Cookies, Rice Crispy Cookie gift, a Campfire Stick cookie and Share a S’Mores. Pastor George Zehnder was the offi¬cial treat tester & declared they were very good! A picnic for the children and parents & an ‘Old Style Lutheran Worship’ with games & bingo rounded out the week.
