Concordia Seminary to Offer Summer Workshop in Ohio District
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, is pleased to announce its summer 2009 series of workshops for pastors, professional church workers and interested laypersons.
Eight workshops, covering a wide variety of subjects, are offered nationwide, and are taught by members of the Concordia Seminary faculty.
“The Church in the New Testament” will be offered by Dr. Jeffrey Kloha, August 10-12, at St. James Lutheran Church, Cleveland, Ohio. Kloha is associate professor of exegetical theology at Concordia Seminary.
The Pauline Letters and Acts describe a growing, vibrant — and conflicted — church. What did local churches look like, and how did they carry out their work? How did all the churches in one city relate to churches in other cities? And how does the New Testament depiction and description of the church shape and inform our present day conception of both the local church and larger church structures?
The cost for the workshop is $125. Registration and payment is due July 20, and a minimum enrollment is required in order for the workshop to be held. Housing and meal information is available by contacting Rev. Dr. Paul W. Hoffman, the host pastor at St. James Lutheran Church, Cleveland, Ohio, at 216-351-6499; stjamescleve@juno.com.
