A pastoral vacancy is often a difficult experience for the Congregation. It can also be a time of growth, as God's people step forward to keep ministries going and even increase their support. It is a great time for self-examination and goal setting.
This pastoral vacancy is also an opportune time for a Congregation to look at its strengths and weaknesses, ministry priorities, and vision for the future.
Plan to join RSTM for the 2013 LCMS National RSTM conference Oct. 31–Nov. 2, 2013, at the Kansas City Airport Marriott at 775 Brasilia Ave., Kansas City, MO 64153.
The theme for 2013 will be “Planting in a Changing World.” We are also pleased to announce that our plenary speakers will include the Rev. Dr. Paul Maier, author and LCMS Third Vice- President; the Rev. Jonathan Fisk, LCMS pastor, author and video podcast host; Dr. Adam Francisco, professor of history at Concordia University, Irvine, Calif., and an expert on Islamic worldviews; Dr. Shannon Young, a well-known rural author; and the Rev. Todd Kollbaum, RSTM director. Details on breakout speakers and the schedule will be coming soon. Be sure to watch our website and Facebook page for updates on how to register. Although we have engaged a larger venue, we encourage you to secure your spot early so that you can join us. The national conference is geared for congregational leaders from all rural and small-town settings.
While there is no “one size fits all” solution, participants will be encouraged as they see new opportunities for engaging their communities and are filled with hope for the future. Fellowship and discussion with others who have also been placed in this unique mission field will be invaluable too!
