  • What's a Smalcald? If this is a question that has been in the back of your mind or you've never thought about, here's your chance for an answer. On September 23, 2017, beginning at 11:30 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, 32410 Willowick Drive in Willowick, Ohio, will be hosting The Rev. Dr. Carl Finkenscher, Chairman and Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Missions, Director of Pastoral Formation Programs, at Concordia Theological Seminary-Fort Wayne. The focus of this workshop will be a discussion of this little-known document.
This document written by Martin Luther concisely lays out the doctrine of our faith and it was intended to be a summary statement of Lutheran position, used in addition to the Augsburg Confession, which would be submitted to the general council called by Pope Paul III in May of 1537. As we approach the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, now is the time to discuss one the most overlooked documents, that defines so well, the Scriptural authority for our Lutheran Doctrine.
