A pastoral vacancy is often a difficult experience for the Congregation. It can also be a time of growth, as God's people step forward to keep ministries going and even increase their support. It is a great time for self-examination and goal setting.

This pastoral vacancy is also an opportune time for a Congregation to look at its strengths and weaknesses, ministry priorities, and vision for the future.

Most of the questions raised within this Self-Study will help the Congregation understand itself better. Important questions include ..... why are we calling a Pastor? What do we expect of him? What does God expect of us at this time and in this place? Who really is responsible for doing ministry in the congregation? Are we growing? Have we reached a plateau? Are we declining? Do we have meaningful, well written congregational goals?
These and many other questions are important as the Congregation evaluates itself. God bless you in this effort, it will make a difference for the present and the future.
